Winston Garris, M.D.
Winston J. Garris, M.D. is a specialist in glaucoma treatment and cataract surgery. Dr. Garris has a special interest in providing the newest and less invasive techniques for glaucoma. This includes procedures such as endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation, canaloplasty, Istent and the Cypass Micro-stent.
Dr. Garris attended NC State University in Raleigh, N.C., graduating summa cum laude. He received his medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C., and completed his medical internship and ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University/Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, La. He completed his fellowship in anterior segment and glaucoma diseases at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, La.
He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Born and raised in Goldsboro, N.C., Dr. Garris is a former ophthalmic technician which inspired his decision to go into medicine and become an ophthalmologist. He met his wife, a pediatrician, in medical school. In his spare time Dr. Garris enjoys traveling and water sports.
