John W. French, M.D. is a specialist in corneal and external diseases, corneal cross-linking for keratoconus, and small-incision cataract surgery. His specialty covers the medical treatment and surgery of diseases and disorders affecting the surface and front of the eye. Dr. French was distinguished as a Top Cataract Surgeon in the U.S. by Sightpath Medical in 2013.
Dr. French received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina where he was inducted in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated Valedictorian of his medical school class. He completed his residency at the Storm Eye Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina where he received the ASCRS Foundation Resident Excellence Award and William W. Vallotton Award for Academic Excellence. Dr. French received his fellowship in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Fla.
He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
