National Family History Day

November 24th, 2015 by Carolina Eye Associates

thanksgiving2 Each year since 2004, the Surgeon General has declared Thanksgiving to be National Family History Day. Over the holiday, the Surgeon General encourages Americans to talk about, and to write down, the health problems that seem to run in their family. This includes eye diseases such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration – two of the leading causes of adult blindness. Both diseases appear to be inherited in a large portion of cases.

As you join your family for Thanksgiving we encourage you to take the time to learn about their health history as it may help ensure a longer, healthier future together.

For more information on glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration call Carolina Eye Associates at (910) 295-2100 or toll-free at (800) 733-5357.
