Carolina Eye Associates hosted over 450 optometrists and their technicians from North Carolina at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, Southern Pines, North Carolina on Saturday, February 1. Attendees heard about the newest advances in eye surgery and treatments for eye disease during The 28th Annual Robert G. Martin Ocular Disease Symposium.  Dr. Robert G. Martin founded Carolina Eye Associates, P.A. in 1977. Since then, its flagship center in Pinehurst has been an investigational site for numerous studies of innovative therapies for many vision-destroying diseases.

Carolina Eye Associates President Gregory Mincey, MD, opened the symposium with an update of the progress Carolina Eye is making with the current expansion that will increase on-site parking; expand the clinic and ambulatory care center.  Carolina Eye surgeons presented information about interesting cases and advances in the flagship centers technology.  Some of the surgeons topics included, “Lights and Shadows: The Dysphotopsias after Cataract Surgery”, “Anterior Segment Update 2014”, “Facial Cosmetics in Ophthalmology”,  “First line Treatment for Glaucoma”,  “Herpetic Keratitis: Manifestations, Treatment, and complications”.  The presenters included, Arghavan Almony, MD, Anna Fakadej, MD, John French, MD, Neil Griffin, MD, Daniel Messner, MD, Tarra Millender, MD, Gregory Mincey, MD and Jeffrey White, MD.
