The Cataract Service
The Cataract Service is the hub of Carolina Eye Associates. Each year thousands of patients undergo cataract surgery at Carolina Eye, benefiting from the experience of world-class surgeons rated as America's best.
We are proud to offer our cataract patients the latest in advanced intraocular lenses (IOLs) which are used to replace the natural lens of the eye during surgery. Traditional IOLs provide patients with either good distance or good reading vision, but not both. The new accommodating IOLs like the Crystalens give patients the ability to have glasses-free vision from reading to distance vision. Please speak with our doctors to see if you are a candidate for this exciting new technology.
At Carolina Eye, we use only the latest and most advanced surgical techniques, enabling our doctors to perform cataract surgery without stitches, needles, or even the need for an eye patch to wear home. Our patients call it Comfort Cataract Surgery because they're able to return to many of their normal daily activities on the same day as their procedure. Because no stitches or needles are used, our surgical techniques are taking the fear out of having cataract surgery.
