Neil B. Griffin, M.D.
Dr. Neil Griffin is a specialist in corneal and external diseases and small-incision cataract surgery. His specialty covers the medical treatment and surgery of diseases and disorders affecting the surface and front of the eye.
Dr. Griffin is a pioneer in endokeratoplasty, a new type of corneal transplantation technique. He has presented study results and his technique to surgeons in the United States and abroad. He is a noted international endokeratoplasty instructor and is an instructor in lamellar keratoplasty for the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Griffin received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He served his internship at the Mayo Clinic, and completed his residency at the University of Maryland. Dr. Griffin then received his highly specialized fellowship in cornea and external disease from the University of Texas. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Griffin joined Carolina Eye Associates in 1994. He and his family live in Southern Pines, where he enjoys farming and flying.
