Arghavan Almony, M.D.

Arghavan Almony, M.D. joined Carolina Eye Associates in 2012 and is a specialist of the retina, macula and vitreous. Her specialty includes the treatment and surgery of diseases affecting the back of the eye, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, macular hole, and epiretinal membrane (macular pucker).

Dr. Almony graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California. She received her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California and completed her residency training at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Almony received her fellowship in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous from Barnes Retina Institute and Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Almony has published over 25 peer-reviewed ophthalmology articles and continues to be involved in national studies and clinical trials. Her research has been presented at over 50 national and international conferences. She is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a fellow with the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of both the American Society of Retina Specialists and The Retina Society. She is a proud mother of 3 children. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, rock climbing, and yoga.
